Vancouver is a beautiful city known for its world-class attractions including Stanley Park and Granville Island. It is located just 24 miles (38 km) north of the US border and less than a three-hour drive from Seattle, Washington. The city of Vancouver sits in the midst of some spectacular scenery. The Ocean Strait of Georgia frames its western edges with the great harbor basin of English Bay and Burrard Inlet to the north. Vancouver is 60 miles (96 km) northeast of Victoria, the capitol of British Columbia, located on the southern tip of nearby Vancouver Island.

New York has Fifth Avenue. Paris has the Champs d'Elysses. Vancouver has Robson Street, Granville Street, Gastown, Yaletown and Commercial Drive. Whether you're searching for designer brands or budget accesspries; deruta mugs or DeBeers diamonds; hand-blown glass masterpieces, Italian leather shoes or organic green tea-Vancouver has it all. Outside down town, there are the Metrotown Mall in Burnaby, Oakridge Centre Mall on Cambie Street or the Lansdowne Centre Mall in Richmond.

Getting There

Vancouver International Airport (YVR), at about 10km south of the city on Sea Island, is the largest airport in Britiash Columbia. It has many flights to destinations throughout North America and to every other continent. Taxis to downtown cost about $20 to $30. The Shuttle Bus called Airporter costs $12 and a limo costs $35 for up to eight passengers. You can drive from the USA and other parts of Canada to Vancouver; the major highways are the I-5 (joining with Hwy 99) from the USA, and the Trans-Canada Hwy (Hwy 1) joining with Hwy 99 from the east.

Most hotels in downtown are conveniently located near most of the attractions with plenty of restaurants, convenience stores and shops within walking distance. Hotels in Vancouver range from the most basic place to lay your head to fabulous five star luxury hotels and unique boutique style accommodations. You will also find quite a lot of accommodations near Vancouver International Airport.
